She's a 47 year old interior decorator who has been in the business for over 20 years. Madison Night owns the shop, Mad For Mod. My thanks to Net Galley and to Henery Press for approving my request. I received an ARC from in exchange for an honest review. I didn't know who the murderer was until the end of the book. There is a dog named Rocky for Rock Hudson. To top this off, Madison receives threatening notes and is physically attacked. One thing in common is that the victims all resemble Doris Day. One of Madison's pillows was used to commit the murder. Madison goes for her morning swim and a new competitor who dresses and resembles Doris Day is found murdered at the back of Madison's car. Madison Night is a mid century (the term makes me feel old) interior designer. Well, I found out I really enjoyed this book. I like Doris Day but didn't know if I would like a series based on this. I had by-passed this series in the past due to the protagonist being a large Doris Day fan. I read a review about this series by a blogger whose recommendations I enjoy.

Let's jump into this issue and see the further adventures of Michael and Sam Emerson and of course, everyone's favorite vampire killing, brother duo, Edgar and Allan Frog. Either way, all you need to know going into this comic series is the first Lost Boys movie and as far a homework goes. That shit is important to me because I'm a lunatic. Anyway, with my so called credentials aside, I also want to tell you before this review that I've been excited as hell to read this book because I'm chomping at the bit for anything related to this franchise at this point because aside from some terrible remake that will probably happen in the future, (thankfully nothing has been announced as of yet) there isn't a lot to really sink my teeth into when it pertains to this series anymore and even if this comic is a straight sequel to the first movie and nothing else, at least I can take solace in the fact that there couldn't be anything too continuity damaging from this first issue. Now this might not mean a lot to most of you, but I'd say you'd be pretty hard pressed to find anyone with strong opinions about the sequels to The Lost Boys series in general. I mean, I'm such a fan that I have strong opinions about how the third movie in the series, Lost Boys: The Thirst is better than the second one, Lost Boys: The Tribe. I want to start this off by telling all of you fine readers out there that I'm a huge Lost Boys fan. So this little punk-ass bitch come up on the tree - this is a motherfuckin' tree, hear? - and ask her fo' some g's. Ever'thin' fine for a while, y'all, with the lil' prick all gettin' up in there an' sayin' to the tree, "Yeah, you know you mah bitch," but then all of a sudden, this jumped-up prick go through puberty, get his chia on or some such shit, and so he's off screwin' the skank-ass bitches on the block all damn day and can't spare one motherfuckin' minute for this poor old tree who waitin' for him and lookin' all motherfuckin' sad an' droopy an' shit. The Giving Tree is the straight-up wack story of how this selfish little ass-faced prick kicks it with this full-on saintly tree. Okay, this some motherfuckin' fucked-up shit right here. HEY, KIDS AND SHEL SILVERSTEIN FANS! COME OVER HERE AND READ THIS! Ren, while never forgetting him, was able to move and have several successful D/s relationships. Ren was Cole's first love, and he left her for what I thought was a really immature reason. I liked the idea much more than the execution. Overall, a beautifully written and sexy conclusion to the Sweet Series. I get it, it's fiction, just didn't like that part. I didn't find that part believable, I am a firm believer in everything can easily be cleared up, there is no need to mope around. Ren automatically assuming things, the guys not telling her the full story, and then everyone gets worked up. The only problem I had with this book is the "misunderstanding" sub-plot. I loved the varied scenes with two or even three people interacting with Ren, it was sexy and very well done. This is probably the sexiest book yet in this series, in my opinion. Lucas definitely grew on me as the story progressed. I love the characters in this book, I know everyone was waiting for Cole's book for so long that is hardly seemed real that it was time to read it. After having read the book, just like she said, he couldn't have ended any other way. Banks informed me she had to do the ending the way she did and changed it from it's original ending, in short.I was worried. Her solace comes in the company of a stuffed teddy bear that she carries in her backpack. Meanwhile, she’s been rendered an outcast, bullied (“Polly Pudding-Ass”), and ignored in equal measure. Last Polly knew, he was still in prison-his home for half of her young life-for armed robbery. When 11-year-old Polly McClusky walks out the front doors of Fontana Middle School in southern California, the last person she expects to see is her father, Nate. The book has been optioned for film, with Harper attached to write the screenplay. Harper published a short story collection, Love and Other Wounds, before the release of his full-length debut, She Rides Shotgun-a 2018 Edgar Award nominee for Best First Novel. He’s been both a film critic and journalist and has written for television (“teevee”) he now makes his home in Los Angeles. Jordan Harper is a Missouri native who’s been fascinated with crime since childhood, likely due to a familial involvement in law enforcement. She Rides Shotgun by Jordan Harper is a propulsive, gritty novel about a girl marked for death who must fight and steal to stay alive, learning from the most frightening man she knows-her father. It has been 4 years since Nana tore Peter Pan’ shadow from his body and Wendy is frustrated and disappointed that Peter has never come to reclaim it. Even London’s sky is “choked” by the clouds rather than blanketed by them Braswell wastes no time in managing our expectations: letting us know that this will not be a romantic tale of stars and pixie dust. Gone are the sickeningly sweet nursery scenes and Nana in a nursemaid’s hat. As with all the twisted tales though, nothing is as it seems.Īny regular reader will know Liz Braswell is a favourite of mine for bringing the darkness to our favourite fairy tales and Straight on Till Morning is no exception. Liz Braswell is back and better than ever with her latest twisted tale based on the story of Peter Pan. “What if Wendy went to Never Land with Captain Hook?” Peace at Last Peace at Last by Jill Murphy is the lovely story of poor Mr. Jill lived and worked from her home studio in North Cornwall, where she drew inspiration from her life, her friends and her family. Garber has created this magical world, yet she fails to give it the attention it truly deserves. There are only so many times a reader can handle being told of the way Dante smells “of ink and secrets and wicked magic.” In fact, upon closer investigation, many of these descriptions are pure fluff. But the descriptions rarely stray from the handsome men that Donatella comes across or the magnificent dresses she and her sister wear. “Genuine amusement lit a pair of silver-blue eyes, as dazzling as crashing waves, shadowed by untamed hair so gold it could have been turned into coins,” she writes. Garber takes advantage of the fact that her readers don’t have a complete grasp of the rules of her magical world and, frustratingly, makes the rules up as she sees fit.Īt first, Garber’s prose shines. Garber has a knack for describing the unique world she has created, but upon closer look her descriptions border on the nonsensical. Whereas the first book focused on Scarlett, the elder sister, “Legendary” follows Donatella as she tries to win the magical game of Caraval and save her mother. Stephanie Garber’s latest novel “Legendary,” the sequel to her well-received debut “Caraval,” continues the story of the two Dragna sisters.
